Journey with the Worship Seminar at L.W.C.

Greetings to those from Columbia Baptist Church who will follow the Worship Seminar course at Lindsey Wilson College during the spring 2012 semester.  The site is www.commonmeter.blogspot.com.  We first invite you to read the post at the bottom of that home page, "Welcome to Common Meter" as an introduction to our journey.  Second, we truly appreciate your upcoming insights and thoughts about worship.  At the commonmeter site both the Worship Seminar at LWC and CBC members can engage in comments about a topic related to worship.

Consider the following as a broad and expansive view of worship:
I Chronicles 25:6-7 AND II Chronicles 5:11-14 are underlined in the Bible of Johann Sebastian Bach. At his death, Bach's library consisted of 83 books, including his Bible. All his books were related to spiritual life and theology. Interestingly, of all the musical compositions he composed, he wrote "Jesu Juva" at the top of the page as he began. The translation: "Help me, Jesus."

At the conclusion of each work he composed he wrote "Soli Deo Gloria." The translaton: "To God alone be the glory." For those of you who are list makers.... what if you made your daily schedule on an index card, beginning at the top with "Jesu Juva"?

Thus, we encounter the concept of worship as much more than the Sunday morning church service we attend.  The broadest definition we have been studying is, "Worship as our way of life."  (from Webber)

THANK YOU, fellow Levites, for your dedication and commitment to leading our church to worship and for tuning-in for this session of IN TUNE.
Soli Deo Gloria,
gerald
